PUPPY For puppies from 2 to 4 months old: basic socialization, informal instruction on sit, down, stand, stay, walk on leash, and come when called. Housetraining, nutrition, basic grooming and health care are also discussed. |
BASIC HOME OBEDIENCE For dogs at least 5 months old. Learn the fundamentals of owning a well-mannered pet. Heel on leash, sit, stand, recall, sit/down stay, as well as tips on general healthcare, good grooming and public manners. All work is done on leash. |
ADVANCE BASIC For dogs who have had a TCDTC basic class or permission of the instructor. Focus is on continuation of basic work with emphasis on improving response to commands and reliability. Also a lot of proofing with distractions to improve performance. |
NOVICE Continuation and polishing of exercises taught in the Basic Home class. Dogs should already know heel, sit, stand, down, stay, and come on leash. Novice obedience teaches control off leash and perfects what the dogs have already learned. Dogs and handlers will know enough that, with practice, they could enter an AKC obedience trial and earn a Companion Dog (CD) title at the end of this class. |
OPEN* For those wanting to teach their dog more advanced level exercises. Training includes retrieving, jumping, and drop on recall, out of sight sit/down stays, off-lead heeling and figure 8 work. With practice, the dogs and handlers will know enough to enter an AKC obedience trial and earn a Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) title. |
UTILITY* For trainers at the CDX level. Includes all phases of the Utility exercises. Scent discrimination, directed retrieving, and signal work, the walking stand, the go-out and directed jumping. (UD) |
Trick This is a class for those who would like to have some fun with the obedience lessons previously learned and bond a little tighter with their dog. It builds confidence in dog and handler in a relaxed setting as well as adding some new skills. The dogs should have basic obedience and be well mannered. |
Rally Various rally exercises will be introduced and you will learn how to teach them to your dog. Knowledge of basic heeling helpful.
|
Learn how to train your dog for agility. Whether for fun or to get ready to compete, it's a wonderful way to have fun with your dog. |
|
People taking OPEN or UTILITY classes should plan on building or purchasing a set of jumps to use at home. |
