WINTER 2011-12 OBEDIENCE CLASSES

All classes are one hour unless otherwise stated.

AGILITY: come learn the introduction to agility. Whether for fun or to get ready to compete. It’s a wonderful way to have fun with your dog. BRING DOGS THE FIRST NIGHT.

PUPPY: For puppies 8-16 wks. Don’t wait for problems to develop. Practical advice on how to prevent or correct general behavior problems. Excellent for the first time puppy owner or a refresher class for new puppies. Equipment: 4’-6’ leash, buckle collar, 15’-20’ long line, favorite toy or treats. FIRST NIGHT IS WITHOUT PUPPIES.

BASIC: For dogs at least 5 months. Class is designed for the owner who wants a well-behaved pet, one who will come when called, sit, stay, etc. when YOU want them. Equipment: 4’-6’ leash, buckle collar, 15’-20’ long line, favorite toy or treats. FIRST NIGHT IS WITHOUT DOGS.

ADVANCE BASIC: For dogs who have had a TCDTC basic class or permission of the instructor. Focus is on continuation of basic work with emphasis on improving response to commands and reliability. A lot of proofing with distractions to improve performance. BRING DOGS THE FIRST NIGHT.

BEGINNER NOVICE: This class will be working on beginner Handlers to become a team with their dog to work toward getting ready for the show ring. Must have had basic class or permission of the instructor. The class will focus on the stay commands sit, down and stand along with other exercises to get you ready for the new optional titled AKC class. BRING DOGS THE FIRST NIGHT.

NOVICE: This class is for handlers who have taken our novice one class or permission from the instructor. Continuation and polishing of exercises taught in the novice one class. We will be working on heeling on and off leash and on the recall. BRING DOGS THE FIRST NIGHT.

RALLY: Class is to help you learn how to compete in rally and have fun working on obedience skills at the same time. Classes will cover all three levels. Training assistance will be tailored to the needs of the students. Bring a portable crate to use when walking the courses. BRING DOGS THE FIRST NIGHT.

CONFORMATION: Get your dog ready for the breed ring or refresh your champion. Walk-ins welcomed. Class is ongoing. Price is $10 per night/per person. BRING DOGS THE FIRST NIGHT. There will be NO class on the 2nd Thursday of every month.
